Porn is burning the house down

The good news? Jesus didn’t come for the righteous, but for the broken. He offers freedom - not just forgiveness, but transformation. But healing only begins when the Church becomes a welcoming place to bring secrets into the light.

We need pastors to speak boldly and with compassion. To step up and find freedom for themselves as well, so that they may lead in truth! We need small groups where men and women can be honest without fear. We need discipleship that addresses both the heart and the habit. We need support for the wives whose lives have been turned upside down by their husband’s silent addiction - leaving them bound by shame, fear, and disillusionment. And we need to walk with each other patiently, knowing that recovery is a process, not a one-time prayer.

Porn is destroying marriages and families - the church must intervene.

6. Pornography Isn’t Just a Private Sin - It’s a Public Injustice

The people on the screen are not fantasy. They are real human beings - many of them abused, manipulated, or trafficked. Behind every click is a young woman who may have grown up in foster care, battled addiction, suffered childhood trauma, or been abducted into a life of sex slavery. Many are coerced or forced into the industry through deception, poverty, or violence.

How can we, the Church, claim to stand for life, freedom, and the dignity of every person - while silently consuming content that feeds an industry built on pain?

Because of the hidden and illegal nature of exploitation, stats can be difficult to obtain, however, based on the limited research (and we know the problem is much greater) here are a few shocking stats to consider:

• The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received over 36 million reports of child sexual abuse material, many of which were being distributed through pornography platforms.
• 70-90% of porn performers have reported a history of sexual abuse or trauma.
• Research shows that 88% of porn scenes involve aggression toward women.
• Advocacy groups have investigated how porn sites (especially Pornhub) hosted thousands of videos featuring trafficked victims, minors, and non-consensual content.

We cannot turn a blind eye. To ignore this is to be complicit. The porn industry profits off the brokenness of others - and when we support it in secret, we are no different than the ones who exploit them in public.

Let the Church Be the Loudest Voice for Freedom

This isn’t just about personal purity - it’s about fighting for the voiceless. It’s about protecting future generations, restoring broken hearts, and standing up for those trapped in systems of abuse.

The Church must stop whispering about porn addiction and start shouting about freedom.

Let’s be bold. Let’s be broken. Let’s be honest. And let’s be a people who not only proclaim truth but live it - free from shame, full of grace, and relentless in our pursuit of justice.

Because Jesus came to set captives free.

And that mission still matters.
