Porn epidemic in churches prompts Christian filmmakers to rally pastors

Why did Christian filmmakers create the Conquer Series?
Because the numbers inside the church were staggering. A survey of church leaders found 50 percent of pastors and 68 percent of Christian men visit internet pornography weekly, and Pastor Chuck Swindoll calls it the number one contributor to divorce among Christian couples. Director Jeremy Wiles spent two years building a discipleship curriculum hosted by Dr. Ted Roberts, aimed at heart transformation rather than behavior modification.
The Invasion of Internet Pornography in American Churches
“Every second over $3,000 is spent on it. Every second over 25,000 Internet users are viewing it. Forty million men regularly visit websites for it. Ten percent of men admit they suffer from an online addiction to it. According to a recent survey of church leaders, 50 percent of pastors and 68 percent of Christian men confessed they visit it online weekly. What is it? “It” is Internet pornography – and “it” has invaded American churches.”
The above statistics are alarming, and the issue of internet pornography is a growing epidemic in the Church. It is the “number one problem” contributing to divorces among Christian couples, according to Pastor Chuck Swindoll.

The Conquer Series: A DVD Teaching Curriculum on Sexual Purity
In response to this problem, a group of filmmakers created the Conquer Series, a DVD teaching curriculum on sexual purity. It is the first of its kind to show men how to retrain a brain that’s hooked on porn, using biblical principles and powerful insights.
“The shocking statistics were the game-changer for me,” says director, Jeremy Wiles. “So, we spent two years developing a 5-hour discipleship curriculum, interviewing top Christian leaders on this subject and shooting battle reenactments to illustrate the war that every man faces with sexual temptation. I wanted to give men proven principles on how to find freedom. We can be the generation that changes the statistic.”
A Battle Plan for Purity
The Conquer Series is designed to give men a battle plan for purity. Hosted by Dr. Ted Roberts, a former U.S. Marine fighter pilot, and head of Pure Desire Ministries, the series offers in-depth teaching about healing emotional wounds, interviews with brain scientists, and church leaders.
“Our goal with the Conquer Series is to give men a battle plan for purity. We’ve got a great tool here that will change lives, but we need pastors to partner with us to fight this battle,” Dr. Roberts said.
The videos are pumped with action-packed cinematic reenactments of real experiences in Dr. Roberts’ life, including aerial fights over Vietnam. The Conquer Series is not about behavior modification, but heart transformation.
“The Conquer Series, unrivaled in its scope and authority, is not about behavior modification, but heart transformation,” Wiles says.

A Tool for Church Leaders
The Conquer Series is an excellent tool for church leaders to tackle the problem of pornography addiction. It provides a high-quality video curriculum and study guide that can be used by leaders in small men’s group meetings.
“Pornography is a really tough subject for a lot of pastors to openly confront,” said Wiles. “This cinematic Series will give them confidence that they can restore men using proven Bible-based principles.”
Paul Cole, President of Christian Men’s Network, also agrees. “When the Conquer Series begins to be a part of who we are, it will begin to change what we do and who we are as a church.”

What is the Conquer Series?
The Conquer Series is a cinematic discipleship curriculum on sexual purity, the first of its kind to show men how to retrain a brain that is hooked on pornography using biblical principles and powerful insights. Host Dr. Ted Roberts puts the aim this way: "Our goal with the Conquer Series is to give men a battle plan for purity." It took two years to develop and is now a 10-episode course.
Is the Conquer Series about behavior modification?
No. As director Jeremy Wiles says, "The Conquer Series, unrivaled in its scope and authority, is not about behavior modification, but heart transformation." Men are not handed a tighter set of restrictions and told to try harder; they are taught what is actually happening in the brain, how emotional wounds keep the cycle running, and how renewing the mind works. The goal is a changed man.
What is actually in the Conquer Series episodes?
Each episode pairs in-depth teaching on healing emotional wounds with interviews with brain scientists and church leaders, plus cinematic battle reenactments. Director Jeremy Wiles describes the build: "we spent two years developing a 5-hour discipleship curriculum, interviewing top Christian leaders on this subject and shooting battle reenactments to illustrate the war that every man faces with sexual temptation." The reenactments come from real combat experience.
Can a pastor run the Conquer Series in a men's group?
Yes, and it was designed for exactly that. "Pornography is a really tough subject for a lot of pastors to openly confront," says director Jeremy Wiles. "This cinematic Series will give them confidence that they can restore men using proven Bible-based principles." The high-quality video curriculum and study guide mean a leader can run it in a small men's group without having to be the expert in the room.
Can I try the Conquer Series before committing?
Yes. The full 10-episode course is available to watch on SoulRefiner.com, and you can watch it risk-free for fourteen days to see whether it is right for you or for the men in your church. That trial window exists because most men and most pastors have been burned by programs that promised freedom and delivered another round of guilt. Look at it first, then decide.
