Quick Answer

Why should I bring the Conquer Series to my church?

Because the men in your church are not hearing God clearly. One leader shared that after God led him to Matthew 6:22-23 and Proverbs 29:18, he understood that what fills our eyes fills us with light or darkness, and that pornography floods a man's heart with accusation and shame. With roughly 70 percent of church men caught in it, silence leaves them there.

We received this powerful testimony from one of our Conquer Series Leader’s who has stepped up to the challenge, taken up his sword and is leading other men to victory in Christ!

I had been reading Charisma Magazine online for several years. One day, I noticed the advertisement for the Conquer Series.

At first, I really didn’t give it much thought. After several weeks of seeing the ad daily, I clicked on it. After all, if men are being freed from porn, I wanted to know more. I viewed the trailer and was deeply moved. I immediately ordered the videos and began to watch them.

About halfway through the series, I started to realize that God might be calling me to start a Conquer Series group in my church. As far as I know, I have never said no to God when He called me to do something; but it was different this time.

I was scared.

I began pleading with God, “Please, don’t make me do this.”

I shared a little bit about the Conquer Series with my wife and she said, “Just keep watching the Series and pray. God will let you know if He wants you to do something.” The uncomfortable feeling began to grow. I shared this with our leadership team at church, and they said, “Let’s just pray and see what God is doing.”

The next morning, the Holy Spirit began to speak. He led me to Matthew 6:22-23 which tells us that our eye is like a lens. The eye determines the amount of light or darkness that we let in. If we let in light, our vision is clear. If we let in darkness, our vision is blurry.

Next, The Spirit led me to Proverbs 29:18 which tells us that we need a prophetic vision from God to guide our life and our purpose. Then God revealed why He was calling me to bring the Conquer Series to my church:

When we view things that communicate truth, we are filled with light. When we view things that are not aligned with The Truth, such as pornography or suggestive images we are filled with darkness.

This was not a surprise to me. What I discovered next was a surprise:

God is speaking a prophetic vision to us continuously through His Word and His Spirit. When our vision is occupied with sexually explicit images, the dialogue of accusation and shame in our heart is overwhelming: “God doesn’t love you. You are an abomination to Him. He can’t forgive you. You are the worst Christian ever’”

If almost 70% of the men in church are addicted to pornography, then 70% of the men are not hearing God clearly because of this dialogue of lies inspired by the enemy of our souls.

The Mission

This is why men need to be delivered from porn. Once we are delivered, and our mind is transformed by God’s word, we will hear the prophetic vision that God is speaking to us and that will become our greatest purpose. Our family, the church, and the world is depending on us and our ability to embrace God’s prophetic vision for our lives.

This is how God called me to bring the Conquer Series to my church. In less than 24 hours, God flipped me completely from fearful resistance to an enthusiastic embrace of His call.

Since then we have completed 3 Conquer Groups and we are starting groups 4, 5, and 6 in two weeks. God is doing an amazing work in my life and the lives of my brothers in Christ. We are learning to battle well together.

If God is calling you to bring the Conquer Series to your church, I would encourage you to do it. When God calls us, He equips us with the gifts, passions, and people that we need to fulfill His call.

It’s OK to be scared. It’s OK to struggle. I know that whenever we give ourselves to God, He does incredible things.

Porn isn't the only battlefield, either. For many men in our group, the hidden costs of masturbation turned out to be just as tied to shame and secrecy, and just as worth confronting head-on.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start a Conquer Series group at my church?

Watch the series yourself first. Seeing it changes how you talk about it, and it shows you what the men in your church are actually facing. From there, pray it through, bring it to your wife and your church leadership, and ask God to confirm the call. One leader did exactly that and has since run three Conquer Groups with three more starting.

What if I am afraid to lead a men's group about porn?

Then you are in good company. The leader whose story this is begged God not to make him do it. Fear is not a disqualification and it is not a no. It is okay to be scared and it is okay to still be struggling. When God calls a man, He equips him with the gifts, the passion, and the people needed to finish the assignment.

How many men in church are struggling with pornography?

Almost seventy percent of the men in church are caught in pornography. That means most of the men sitting in your pews on Sunday are carrying a secret they believe would end them if anyone found out. They are not rebellious men. They are men who love God and have no idea how to get free, and nobody has ever handed them a battle plan.

Do I need my church leadership on board first?

Bring it to them early. One leader shared what God was stirring with his leadership team, and their answer was simply to pray and watch what God was doing. That kind of covering matters. It protects you, it gives the group legitimacy in the church, and it means you are not carrying the weight of other men's confessions on your own.

What changes in a church when men get free from porn?

The men start hearing God again. A mind flooded with sexually explicit images is also flooded with accusation, and that noise drowns out what God is actually saying. When that clears and the mind is transformed by God's Word, men begin to hear the purpose God has for them. Families, churches, and a watching world are depending on men who can hear that.
